NVizcaya wood products top Manila OTOP fair
Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya (October 5) -- Wood products from this province have set a record as top selling items during last month's One-town-One -Product(OTOP) trade fair in Metro Manila.
Ma. Salvacion Castillejos, trade and industry department provincial director here said the furniture and furnishings raked in P409,510.00 during the OTOP trade fair which was conducted from august 21 to September 1 this year at Festival Supermall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
She said that out of the more than P3.7 million sales performance, cash sales accounted for 63 percent or P2,359,565 of total sales while booked orders accounted for 37 percent or P1,357,000 where its bulk was generated by the furniture sector.
"With this, we can say that our furniture products can compete in the international market as shown by figures from booked orders and cash sales," Castillejos said.
According to her, the furniture sector which was participated by Reylen's Enterprises, Villa Coloma Furniture, ER Pascua, Four H handicraft and Apollo Antiques and Muebles Ilocandia negotiated the booked orders fro various designs of furniture and antique products from walk-in clients and buyers such as Citi Homes and other housing developers and shoppers from Alabang, Paranaque, Cavite, Las Pinas, Lipa and Laguna.
Next to Nueva Vizcaya's furniture products were its fresh fruits and vegetables from Kasibu town which generated P151,000.00 sales, ornamental plants at P49,500.00 gifts and holiday decors at P48,820.00 and processed food at P33,110.00.
The OTOP trade fair serves as a venue for small and medium enterprises(SMEs) to promote their products, market new product lines and enter into possible marketing agreement with variousl buyers in Metro Manila.
Supplemental activities undertaken during OTOP trade fair were direct mail to buyers, direct mail to LGUs, offices, agencies and establishments, distribution of leaflets in all entrances of the mall during the whole duration of the event, hanging of streamers at the carousel, SLEX and entrances of the mall and hourly announcements during the trade fair.
The OTOP trade fair was supported by Rep. Calros Padilla, governor Luisa Cuaresma, vice governor Jose Gambito and provincial board members, the Provincial Development Council's-Economic Development Committee, League of Municipal Mayors and municipal board members, Provincial Cooperative Affairs Office(PCAO), Office of the Provincial Agriculturist(OPA), NV Provincial Tourism Promotion and Development Division(NVPTPDD), NVizcaya Entrepreneurs Association, Inc.(NVEAI) and other agencies of the provincial government.
