Koronadal City (5 October) -- The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of North Cotabato yesterday authorized Gov. Jesus Sacdalan to donate P1 million from the calamity fund for the victims of the devastating flood which hit Metro Manila and environs in the wake of typhoon Ondoy.
The motion filed by 1st District Board Member Romeo Araña was unanimously approved by the body.
"It is better to give than to receive," Board Member Araña said adding that the province has also been a recipient of donations and relief assistance from national agencies and other local governments when it experienced disasters and calamities in the past.
"It is a manifestation of our sympathy and concern for those who have been severely affected by the flood caused by typhoon Ondoy," he said.
The move of Board Member Araña was a response to Vice Gov. Manny Piñol’s opening statement in yesterday’s 111th SP regular session where the vice governor challenged his colleagues in the provincial legislative body to initiate measures in response to the devastation brought by typhoon Ondoy.
