Tagalog News: Australia magbibigay ng karagdagang $2-M para sa mga biktima ng bagyo

Manila (5 October) -- Nagpalabas ng karagdagang dalawang milyong dolyar ang Australian government upang suportahan ang patuloy na relief operations sa mga biktima ng bagyong "Ondoy" sa Metro Manila at ilang bahagi ng Luzon.

Ayon kay Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith ang panibagong pondo na ito ay gagamitin para sa pagkain ng libu-libong katao na naapektuhan ng hagupit ng bagyong "Ondoy."

Ani Smith ang food aid na katumbas ng mahigit walumpung milyong piso (P80M) ay bahagi ng isang milyong dolyar na halaga ng tulong na nauna ng ibinigay ng Australian government sa mga biktima ng bagyo.

Ang nasabing pondo ay nauna ng inilaan para sa tubig, pagkain, sanitation services, health care, pansamantalang tuluyan at iba pang pangunahing pangangailangan ng mga apektadong pamilya.

Dagdag pa ni Smith, ang initial assistance ay ipina-abot sa mga biktima sa pamamagitan ng Philippine National Red Cross at ng United Nations (UN) agencies. (Abbenal/PIA 12) [top]
