DTI, IPOP to conduct intellectual property confab in Normin
Cagayan de Oro City (5 October) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in region 10, in coordination with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOP), will be conducting a Basic Orientation Seminar and Cliniquing on Intellectual Property particularly relating to trademarks and patents on October 9, 2009, 1:00pm-5:00pm at the Atrium, Limketkai Center, Cagayan de Oro City.
Intellectual Property (IP) is an asset that any person can own, sell, license or even give to another person.
Unlike other assets, IP is intangible that requires protection from theft or unauthorized use.
Further, the distinct types of IP, namely patents, designs, trademarks and copyrights are derived from creativity and innovation.
Regional Director Alicia Euseña of DTI explained that our rights to intellectual property consist of copyrights and related rights; trademarks and service marks; geographical indications; industrial designs; patents; layout designs (topographies) of integrated circuits; and protection of undisclosed information (n,TRIPS).
Director Euseña added, "the guest speakers from IPOP, Engr. Emmanuel Mendoza and Ms. Felicidad Jarata will also be receiving trade mark applications during the cliniquing. Slots are limited. This free seminar cum consultation will be held under the Cagayan de Oro Business Enterprise Services and Trade Exposition 2009 (Oro Best Expo) that will be conducted by the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry. (DTI Region 10) [top]
