Activities up for children's month celebration in Pangasinan

Dagupan City (5 October) -- A three-day Health Education Congress for Children will highlight the city's celebration of the National Children's Month.
City health officer Leonard Carbonell said the congress, to be held on Oct 6-8, aims to make children and their parents happy by giving pointers on how to become good citizens.
The activity will focus on giving comprehensive services for the care of children and pregnant women. Aside from discussions, other activities to be conducted at the City Astrodome are micro- nutrient supplementation, vitamin A supplementation, medical and dental check up, deworming, supplementary feeding, screening on iron deficiency, visual and renal disease, urinalysis and immunization, Carbonell said.
Parents will also be taught on the promotion of breastfeeding, new born screening, prevention of accidents and injuries, hygiene promotion, disease prevention and integrated management of childhood diseases.
The city expects around 3,500 residents to benefit from the activities which will be manned by doctors from Region One Medical Center, Villaflor HospItal, Philippine Medical Society and Philippine Dental Society- Pangasinan chapter together with the city's nutrition and social welfare offices and barangay health workers.
