Early completion of Davao 2-storey school building hailed
Davao City (6 October) -- The Department of Education (DepED) hailed the early completion of the 4CL-Storey school building at crossing Bayabas, NHS Piedad, Toril District, this city.
The newly completed edifice was scheduled to be finished on December 12, 2009 but was completed ahead of schedule last September 15, 2009 with an appropriation of Php4-million.
School Principal, Mrs. Lily D. Tongcaling, in a simple but fitting turnover rites (Sept 17) expressed her thanks and gratitude to DPWH XI Director Osop L. Ali; ARD for operations, Engr. Rey Tamayo; ARD for Maintenance, Engr. Danny Versola; Davao City sub-District Engineering Office (DCSDEO) District Engineer Gerarda T. Donalvo; and DPWH men for the early completion of the school building.
Our long suffering has ended because we will now be having our regular classes inside the school building, Principal Tongcaling said. Before the completion of the building, students have been having their lessons under the shades of the mango tree while others hold lessons at the grandstand, she said.
In a message, DPWH XI Director Ali said that "it is our duty to provide infrastructure needs of the community especially so during this crisis caused by Typhoon Ondoy and Peping, we are making on-the-spot inspection on our bridges and structures in the region to preempt for any eventuality that might occur in the future."
