Cagayan governor recognizes barangay tanods

Tuguegarao City (6 October) -- Cagayan Governor Alvaro Antonio has inspired the Barangay Tanods of the province by giving them financial assistance and incentives as a reward for their untiring efforts in maintaining peace and order in the barangays.

Gov. Antonio has motivated the Tanods to perform their duties to help maintain peace and order which is vital in the development and progress of Cagayan.

In the 1st Tanod Congress, the Barangay Tanods were given due recognition on their contributions. They were also given important information and trainings to become effective barangay police.

They were also informed on the rules for barangay tanods, on how to fight or eliminate illegal drugs in the barangay, in maintaining peace and order, and also on the mitigation of climate change.

Gov. Antonio also unveiled the benefits and incentives for every Tanod such as medical and burial assistance.

The family of each tanod can claim burial assistance of P10,000 in the event that the tanod member will pass away. For medical assistance, a member is entitled to P800/day for 3 days or less if hospitalized.

The tanods were also given paraphernalia for their effective and efficient performance in maintaining peace and order such as vest and night stick (Batuta). (Star/Oliver-PIA 2) [top]
