Catbalogan, Samar (6 October) -- Samar poor from Marabut town started getting their cash assistance from the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) today.
This was bared by Rosianette Cadayong, Information Officer of the program, today to PIA-Samar.
Cadayong said that Marabut beneficiaries have numbered to 1,046. She added that Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) in Tacloban City will release the cash assistance by batches so as not to hamper the normal banking operations.
Marabut town is some fifty kilometres away from Tacloban City and the beneficiaries will have to shell out some forty to fifty pesos to claim their cash assistance.
However, Cadayong said that Mayor Percival Ortillo has provided for the transportation of his constituents.
It was not clear though, whether they were loaded in LGU vehicles or were given transportation allowances.
On August 9, 2009, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and DSWD Secretary Esperanza Cabral launched the 4Ps in Samar province benefiting some 48 thousand families.
The conditional cash transfer may provide a minimum of P 1,200 a month for a small-size poor family while some may get more.
Basey folks then were thankful with the assistance and promised to abide by the terms and conditions lest they be plucked from the list.
Beneficiaries throughout Samar province have been enrolled in Land Bank of the Philippines for ATM cards which they will use to withdraw their cash assistance from the Arroyo administration. (PIA-Samar) [top]
