NVizcaya town conducts search for 'maginoong' tricycle driver

Solano, Nueva Vizcaya (October 6) -- This town will conduct a search for 'Maginoong' tricycle driver as part of its 149th founding anniversary and 2nd "Pagbiagan Festival" from October 5 to 10 this year.

The search aims to transform the more than 3,000 tricycle drivers in this town as respectable and dependable frontliners of the transport sector, said Aurelio Polonio, festival management assistant chairman.

"This search was conceptualized to slowly transform our tricycle drivers to become ambassadors of change," Polonio told PIA.

He said the search is only the first step in a series of transformational activities lined up for tricycle drivers and operators in coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT).

He said the search is one way of promoting and developing their good qualities which will attract local and foreign tourists who will be spending their time in the municipality.

The tricycle drivers, he said will also undergo human resource seminars to teach them on proper treatment and handling of passengers and commuters within the municipality.

During the search, 5 finalists will be selected from 10 screened participants where the winner, first, second, third and fourth placers will be chosen.

"Investing in our human resources is one of our activities to pursue the promotion of our town as a safe haven for local and foreign tourists," Polonio stressed.

The 5-day "Pagbiagan" festival also features search for Miss Tourism 2009 and "Pagbiagan Festival Queen, dressmaking and tailoring contest, mobile passporting, One-Town-One-Product(OTOP) and One-Barangay-One- Product(OBOP) trade fair, parlor games, free medical services, sports activities, cultural shows, street dancing and fashion show among others.
