Feature: Photo contest brings to fore memories of Leyte Gulf landings

Tacloban City (7 October) -- The Photo Contest which is one of the activities for the 65th Leyte Gulf Landings anniversary, is seen to bring back memories of the Leyte Gulf Landings.

Being spearheaded by the Camera Club of Leyte and Samar, the Photo Contest has three categories, the World War II Memorabilia, The World War II Engagement Sites…65 years after; and Uniquely Leyte.

The first category, World War II Memorabilia calls for photograph subjects which include any World War II paraphernalia, equipment, gear, relic, keepsake, memento, articles and items.

The category World War II Engagement Sites…65 years after, called for landscape photographs of World War II historical engagement sites in the Region as they are 65 years after the War.

The third category Uniquely Leyte is an open category to include landscape, still life and portrait that showcases the uniqueness of the Province of Leyte.

The Photo Contest which will run from September 20 to October 9, is open to all professional and amateur photographers of Region 8. Employees of DOT, Leyte Provincial Government and members of the Camera Club of Leyte and Samar are not eligible to participate in the contest.

A contestant may have a maximum of six entries for as long as he will only submit two entries per category. The photographer may use either film or digital cameras. Prints submitted shall be 4 x 6 inches without borders and no distinguishing marks on the photo. Digital photos must be submitted raw, unedited.

A submitted entry must be an original work and must be exclusive to this contest which means that it must be unpublished and must not have been submitted in other contests.

The photo entries will be judged on the basis of relevance to the theme, technical expertise and visual impact and creativity.

The winners in each category will receive P10,000 for the first prize, P6,000 for the second prize, P4,000 for the third prize and P1000 for 7 consolation prizes. (PIA 8) [top]
