Nat'l gov't downloads P7M to SND 4Ps beneficiaries

Tubod, Lanao del Norte (8 October) -- The National Government, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) in region 10, downloaded an amount of PhP7,075,800 for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries of Sultan Naga Dimaporo (SND).
This budget will be released to 5,013 registered household recipients in the form of cash grants on October 1-7 at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) Grandstand, this town, through offsite Over the Counter (OTC) payment scheme of Landbank.
The cash grants cover the months of May and June.
The 4Ps is a priority program of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as a poverty reduction measure which will address the welfare of the vulnerable and needy group of the society, the very poor among the poor households in the marginalized provinces, municipalities and barangay in the country.
According to a DSWD report, this program serves as a vehicle in combating the cycles of poverty in Filipino households.
In providing conditional income support to extremely poor households, increase in investments in human capital, especially education to children, shall be achieved.
In addition, 4Ps serves as part of the "National Sector Support for Social Welfare and Development Reform" under Reform Agenda 2: Providing Faster and Better Social Protection – and the Development of a Social Protection Framework and Strategy. (PIO Lanao del Norte) [top]
