La Carlota City elderly get "Katas ng VAT" benefit

Bacolod City (9 October) -- A total of 572 senior Citizens from the different barangays of La Carlota City were the beneficiaries of the Katas ng Vat "Tulong kay Lolo at Lola" project of the national government expedited by the local Social Welfare and Devleopment Office.

La Carlota City Mayor Demie John C. Honrado led the distribution of P500 each to the elders during the turnover ceremony, recently.

The project is intended for the senior citizens aged 70 years and above, a dependent or coming from a family whose income is within or below poverty/threshold level, not covered by any private and /or government retirement benefits and a bonafide senior citizen association members.

The DSWD Region VI released the amount of P286,000 to the city government of La Carlota for the purpose. The distribution of cash was done by the City Treasurer's Office.
