Tangub City produces new beauty ambassadress

by Delma R. Denapo and Richly A. Tagbacaula

Cagayan de Oro City (9 October) -- The city government of Tangub conducted its 17th Edition of Ms. Tangub City Tourism 2009 held at Sinanduloy Cultural Center on September 25.

Twelve candidates represented various agencies both local and national. They contended for the different major categories such as Mindanaoan Attire, Swim Wear Playsuit Attire, Evening Gown and Question and Answer Competition, not to mention the minor sponsored awards.

This year's pageant had a different set-up especially in the Question and Answer portion. It was patterned after Miss Earth Pageant wherein the candidates were asked to draw a number corresponding to the particular picture they were asked to describe.

The pictures shown were about the programs of city mayor Jennifer Wee-Tan during her entire three terms.

For the first time in the search, there was no elimination round this year.

Each candidate had equal chances to bring the crown home. Winners were declared based in the highest scores each candidate has accumulated.

This year's judges were composed of the beauty title holders.

One is the reigning Ms. Mandaue and the other is the reigning Ms. Palarong Pambansa. Brothers Carlos and Michael Agassi were also the pageant's judges together with Regional Director Catalino Chan of the Department of Tourism (DOT) in region 10.

The following were the winners:

Miss Tangub City Toursim 2009 was Julelyn Montemayores from Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology. She was also awarded Best in Evening Gown, Best in Mindanaoan Attire, and Best in Swim Wear Playsuit Attire.

The rest of the winners were Ruchell Canillas from Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College (1st runner-up), followed by Irish Ong from National Agencies (2nd runner-up), Jenny Rose A. Joromat from Southwest District (3rd runner-up) and Meryl Mae Datoy from Tangub City National High School (4th runner-up).

This year's celebrity host was Mr. Rayver Cruz known as "Kokoy" in the hit teleserye May Bukas Pa. (Tangub City, i-net) [top]
