Workshop on contingency plan for flood conducted in Carrascal

Tandag, Surigao Del Sur (October 12) -- Local Government of Carrascal headed by Mayor Alfred Arreza hosted the 2-days Workshop for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) recently at Oasis Beachview Resort in Carrascal.
The workshop facilitated by the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Caraga headed by Dir Blanche Gobenchiong piloted in Carrascal for the province of Surigao del Sur focusing in the finalization of the Municipal Contingency Plan for Flood.
Mayor Arreza welcomed the participants and revealed in his message, the P9.5 million allocation for the repair and rehabilitation of Carrascal seawall from national fund and P1 million from LGU counterpart.
The Mayor also thanked the Provincial Government for its untiring support to the municipality even during the recent manmade calamity, the armed conflict in Barangay Pantukan.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Incident in CARAGA from 1999-2009 indicates that flood has the highest percentage range of 64% which affects most of the region due to intermittent rains. Typhoon recorded 20%, landslide 12% and earthquake got the lowest percentage of .04%. (PIA Surigao del Sur) [top]
