DOST XII to develop pool of local consultants
Koronadal City (13 October) -- The Department of Science and Technology XII (DOST XII) intends to develop local consultants that can be readily available to provide consultancy services to its firm beneficiaries through its program Manufacturing Productivity Extension Program (MPEX).
The program aims to improve the overall productivity of SMEs through consultancy services to help manufacturing firms in producing products that are more competitive both in price and quality.
DOST 12 in collaboration with the Technology Application and Promotion Institute (TAPI-DOST) is extending a complete package of assistance to small and micro enterprises under the DOST banner program Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SET-UP).
Recently, a "Training on MPEX Consulting" was conducted by DOST XII at the Agua Frio Garden Resort, Brgy. Sta. Cruz in Koronadal City. There were twenty three (23) prospective consultants from Mindanao State University in General Santos City, University of Southern Minanao, Sultan Kudarat Polytechnic State College, Notre Dame of Marbel University, Productivity & Technology Center, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Mindanao Fruit Industry Development Council, and some from the private sectors.
As a component of the training, actual visit to Green Valley Machineries in Banga, South Cotabato was done to conduct site assessment and plant layout.
The prospective consultants were organized into two (2) groups to conduct the immersion within four (4) months at a food establishment in Sultan Kudarat and in Green Valley Machineries. On line discussion was encouraged by the Resource Speakers for continued monitoring of the performance of the prospective consultants.
The prospective consultants upon accreditation will apply to DOST XII for evaluation and approval by Regional Director Dr. Zenaida P. Hr Laidan as DOST XII MPEX Consultant. (ac agad PIA 12) [top]
