CDA accepts online application for registration of cooperatives
Tacloban City (October 13) -- In line with the celebration of the month of October as Cooperative Month, the Cooperative Development Authority has established a Registration Assistance Center to assist cooperatives in the Online Application for the Issuance of New Certificates of Registration.
This means that the cooperative officers need not go to the Regional Office of CDA in order to register their cooperative. Making use of the computer, the interested cooperatives may just browse the Online Application for Registration section of the CDA website, www.cda.gov.ph.
This is true for the issuance of new certificates of registration of all types and categories of operating registered and confirmed cooperatives pursuant to RA 9520 otherwise known as the Philippine Cooperative Code of the Philippines.
Those who do not have internet may contact the Registration Assistance Center at telephone numbers 523-5065; 323-7158; 327-6264; or 0928-691-2967.
Director Paa said that all operating registered and confirmed cooperatives under the previous law and have failed to comply with the provisions of Art 144 RA9520 up to March 22, 2010, shall be deemed cancelled. The CDA shall cause the cancellation of such cooperatives.
Cooperatives issued with new Certificates of Registration under Article 144 of RA 9520, shall continue to legally exist for the period provided in their original Articles of Cooperation, unless previously amended.
A cooperative is an autonomous and duly registered association of persons, with a common bond of interest, who have voluntarily joined together to achieve their social, economic and cultural needs and aspirations by making equitable contributions to the capital required, patronizing their products and services and accepting a fair share of risks and benefits of the undertaking in accordance with the universally accepted cooperative principles.
CCDA Regional Director Armonio Paa informed that the theme for this year’s celebration is "One Cooperative Movement, One vision, One Nation." (PIA 8) [top]
