Tagalog News: LGUs kinakailangang bumuo ng mga polisiya na tutugon sa climate change

Koronadal City (13 October) -- Binigyang-diin ng pamahalaan ang kahalagahan ng pagbuo ng mga local government units (LGUs) ng kanilang sariling polisiya upang tugunan ang negatibong epekto ng climate change na bahagi din ng disaster risk management efforts ng pamahalaang nasyonal.

Sa isang press briefing, inihayag ni Science and Technology Undersecretary Graciano Yumul, Jr., na ang pag-adopt ng climate change ay kinakailangang "case to case basis" dahil pangunahing maaapetuhan nito ang mga mamamayang Pilipino.

Binigyang-diin ni Dr. Yumul na ang bagyong "Ondoy" at "Pepeng" ay matibay na ebidensya ng global warming kung kaya’t mahalagang maintindihan ng bawat Pilipino kung anu ang climate change at ang magiging epekto nito upang kanilang mapaghandaan ng mas maaga ang anumang kalamidad na inaasahang mararanasan ng bansa.

Dahil dito, hinikayat ni Yumul ang mga mamamayan na maging handa at tumulong sa pamahalaan upang kahit papaano ay maibsan ang negatibong epekto ng climate change. (Abbenal/PIA 12) [top]
