DTI Capiz installs school-based consumer welfare corners

Roxas City (14 October) -- A school-based consumer welfare corners were established by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Provincial Office here as part of its local activities for the Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) celebration this October.
The corners which came with a billboard on Consumer Rights and Responsibilities and other consumer welfare – related materials were put up at Filamer Christian College, Saint Anthony College, Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion and Capiz State University – Main campuses.
DTI Capiz Business Regulation and Consumer Welfare Division chief Maria Angelita Colmo said that the project is expected to help empower the students as well as other school populace on their rights as consumers.
"We will also strengthen the four school-based consumers association in the province," Colmo noted.
These consumers association are established in Sigma, President Roxas, Pontevedra and Mambusao towns.
Other provincial CWM activities include media interviews, distribution of IEC materials, consumer road show, and products expo on consumer welfare, product quality and safety, among others.
The CWM celebration every October is embodied in Presidential Proclamation No. 1098 issued by President Fidel Ramos in 1997. (PIA) [top]
