NFA says rice supply enough in Pangasinan
Lingayen, Pangasinan (14 October) -- The National Food Authority Western has assured the public of enough rice supply in the province during this typhoon season.
current rice inventory in Pangasinan which includes those in the households, and the commercial stocks, stands at 987,117 bags, which is good to last for 73 days.
NFA western Pangasinan Manager Ramon Cuaresma said NFA worked immediately for the issuance of rice to the different relief agencies. A total of 8,849 bags were already issued to government agencies/local government units and legislators at the height of typhoon Ondoy/Pepeng.
The branch has also reactivated the NFA Operations Center (OPCEN) which operates on a 24-hour basis to serve clientele particularly relief agencies affected by typhoons, he also said.
The branch is still implementing the LGU-NFA Rice Loan Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) where every municipality can avail of NFA Rice for relief distribution and stockpiling in times of calamities.
