Lanao NOrte products gain recognition in Manila

Tubod, Lanao del Norte (14 October) -- At the Congressional Spouses Foundation Inc. (CSFI)-sponsored trade fair on September 24-30, 2009, at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, Lanao del Norte's best products were exhibited and sold which gain wide-spread recognition as it appeal to the palates of Manileños.
Through the Provincial Resource Management Center (PRMC), all the best One-Town-One-Product (OTOP) of the province is brought to the trade fair with the full support and presence of Congressman Abdullah "Bobby" D. Dimaporo, former Governor Imelda "Angging" Quibranza-Dimaporo, municipal mayors and representatives from the provincial government.
Among the best-sellers are coco sugar and honey, special peanut toron, kalamansi concentrate, sardines and bangus in corn oil, suman sa bayong with native coffee and salabat, banana chips, spicy dilis, chemical-free rice and palapa.
These were the product of home-based livelihood projects which are initiated and sustained from the term of office of Congressman Bobby Dimaporo, to former Governor Angging Quibranza-Dimaporo and up to now, it has been actively supported by the present administration under Governor Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo.
The municipal mayors also played a big role in making the projects a success by getting involved in the production of organic and preservatives-free processed agricultural products.
The towns which participated in the said trade fair include Tubod, Maigo, Kapatagan, Lala, Munai, Kolambugan and Sultan Naga Dimaporo.
The Lanao del Norte Food Processors Association and the Rural Improvement Club (RIC) Pasalubong Center have their products exhibited and sold at the trade fair.
What makes the products more appealing is its attention-grabber package and label which can be attributed to the product development ideas from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Science and technology (DOST).
Inspired by the trade fair's positive outcome, Governor Dimaporo and PRMC are now formulating plans for commercial production and aggressive promotion of OTOP products both local and abroad. (PIO-Lanao del Norte) [top]
