Oktubafest's Tagay becomes "Tagay for a Cause"
Tacloban City (October 14) -- The wine-tasting event of the 2nd Oktubafest is now dubbed as "Tagay for a Cause" as it assumes dual purpose - that of breaking the World record for largest wine-tasting event and that noble purpose of showing genuine concern for the victims of flooding in Luzon.
An Waray Partylist Representative Florencio Noel disclosed that with the victims of the series of flooding that wrought havoc to the people of Luzon in mind, An Waray which is spearheading the Oktubafest, particularly the wine tasting event, has decided to make Tagay metamorphose into "Tagay for a Cause," a community campaign to collect relief goods for the kind-hearted people of Eastern Visayas.
As the supporters and participants to the wine tasting event go to the venue, they are enjoined to bring relief good and personally deliver them to the designated collection booth at the Oktubafest venue.
"Through this event, we will not only showcase our Tuba wine products and cultural heritage, but with selfless giving to alleviate the sad plight of the victims, we will be able to present to the whole nation and to the whole world, the caring hearts and helping hands that bring out the best in the Eastern Visayans," Congressman Noel said.
Leyteños and Samareños are all set to break and to set a new record for the World's Largest Wine Tasting Event through "Tagay" a tuba wine tasting activity which is the highlight of the 2nd Oktubafest on October 17 to 18 at the MacArthur Leyte Landing Monument, Government Center, Palo, Leyte.
They are also ready to encourage each participant to bring any relief goods, foodstuff, used clothing, soap, detergents, and toiletries, among others.
Oktubafest is spearheaded by the An Waray Partylist under the leadership of Congressman Bembem Noel, in a bid to promote the local coconut industry as well as to showcase the cultural heritage of Eastern Visayas. (PIA 8) [top]
