3 organizations engage in poultry raising

Bontoc, Mt. Province (17 October) -- Three organizations in the province are beneficiaries of the livelihood project being implemented by the provincial government.

Ms. Evelyn Payacda of the Provincial Governor's Office said these organizations namely Dangdang-ay d iBila of Bila, Bauko; Lias Partially Disabled Persons in Lias, Barlig; and the Young Women's Organization in this municipality proposed to engage in poultry raising particularly the sunshine colored chicken.

Payacda said the provincial government has appropriated a total amount of P71,061.00 for the said project which was used to procure 720 heads of a day old colored chicks from Batangas and were brood first for a week at the Provincial Breeding Center before they were delivered to the beneficiaries.

Part of the total amount was also used for the purchase of medicines for the chicks, transport expenses when delivered to the target beneficiaries and also for the meals/snacks during the conduct of orientation to beneficiaries on the proper care of the chicken.

Payacda said of the total number of chicks procured, The Dangdang-ay d iBila received 300 heads and were distributed to 16 of its members; 200 heads were delivered to Lias Partially Disabled Person also distributed to 16 members; and the other 220 heads were given to Samoki Young Women's Organization and were also distributed to 16 members.
