PGMA happy over good weather in Negros Occidental
Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental (17 October) -- Good weather here seems to bring a pleasant mood of sorts to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo as she was all smiles greeting the crowd in all her sorties yesterday.
President Arroyo started her visit to the province by gracing the 58th Handurawan Charter Anniversary celebration of the town of Moises Padilla.
The President lauded the officials and people of Moises Padilla which she called as the "small but hardworking town".
President Arroyo opted to attend to the town's charter despite the many invitations since she wanted to celebrate the International Day to Fight Extreme Poverty in a small town like Moises Padilla rather than in Metro Manila.
The same message was conveyed by the President as she attended a farmers' forum with the farmers and members of the irrigators' association who benefit from the P1.86-billion Bago River Irrigation System Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (BRISRIP).
Aside from BRISRIP, President Arroyo also inaugurated several other infrastructure projects in the province to include two bridges that connect the towns of Hinigran, Isabela and Binalbagan and a six-lane Bacolod South-Kabankalan Road in Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City.
The President ended her visit in the province of Negros Occidental by attending a lecture on Climate Change conducted by Department of Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Demetrio Ignacio. (PIA/EAD) [top]
