SEI Director Dr. Ester Ogena said the award recognizes individuals and institutions who have contributed to the betterment of science education in the country.

The Gawad LIDER award has two categories - the Exemplary Leadership Award and the Innovation Award. Exemplary Leadership Award has individual and institution categories while the Innovation Award is open to both individual and organization/group.

Ogena said on its second search the Gawad LIDER becomes more prestigious with higher prices at stake. Prizes are pegged at P200,000 and a medal for winners in the Exemplary Leadership and Innovation Award Categories.
