Tagalog News: WWF pinuri si PGMA sa kanyang inisyatibo sa climate change

Manila (20 October) -- Pinuri ng World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), isang international non-government organization na naglalayong matigil ang pagkasira ng kalikasan, si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo para sa kanyang pagbigay pansin sa climate change at ang epekto nito sa kalikasan.

Sa isang courtesy call sa Pangulong Arroyo noong nakalipas na linggo, sinabi ni WWF International Director General James P. Leape na ang mga bagyong Ondoy at Pepeng ay mga halimbawa ng epekto at paninira sa kalikasan dala climate change hindi lamang sa Pilipinas, kundi sa buong mundo.

Ipinahayag din ni Leape na ang Pangulo ay gumagawa na ng mga paraan para sa kamulatan ng mga mamamayan ang naturang isyu. Pinuri din niya ang paghikayat ng pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sa mga pribadong sector na sumuporta sa Coral Triangle Initiatives.

Ang pamahalaan ay kasalukuyang nakikiisa sa Conservation International at WWF sa pagtukoy ng mga proyektong naglalayong mapangalagaan ang karagatan. (Hannah/PIA 12) [top]
