Lal-lo celebrates Universal Children's Month

Lal-lo, Cagayan (21 October) -- The Municipality of Lal-lo, Cagayan has marked another history as its local officials initiated the celebration of Universal Children's Month with the singer artist and youth spokesperson Sam Concepcion.

Lal-lo is the only town in the whole Cagayan Valley Region who gave importance to the celebration for the second time.

Lal-lo Mayor Maria Olivia B. Pascual has inspired the young people of this simple town as she invited Sam Concepcion, Samuel Lawrence Lopez Concepcion in real life, 17 years old, champion singer in the Little Big Star search of Channel 2 and chosen as the youth role model and spokesperson of the Department of Education.

Concepcion stressed in his message that young people must be given the opportunity to learn and experience carrying responsibilities in their early years in preparation for their life in the future.

"The young people today will be the next leaders of tomorrow, that's why we have to train them to be responsible enough even in the simplest way," Concepcion said.

He also emphasized that parents must always guide and serve as role models to the youngsters and the children to serve as role models also to the society as the backbone of the community.

Concepcion further stated that the government must strengthen the involvement of the youth in all endeavors in the society to be more productive and carry responsibilities, standing for what is right and what is good for the majority.

Mayor Pascual said the celebration of the children's month with the young people is one way of showing the youth that they are important in the community and they must be given equal attention.

Pascual again gave an opportunity end experience to the youth as leaders of the municipality as the local officials and department heads chose their youth counterparts to execute their duties and responsibilities as officials of the municipalities for one day. (Oliver B./PIA 2) [top]
