Bacolod City celebrates 71st charter day
Bacolod City (21 October) -- The City of Bacolod celebrates its 71st Charter Day Anniversary recently with the theme Bacolod... Moving Beyond Expectations and with Executive Secreatary Eduardo Ermita as guest of honor.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia said that the theme highlights the city's resiliency in the midst of global recession that hit many countries worldwide.
The mayor added that Bacolod continued to post economic growth and flourishing businesses despite the crisis.
The celebration started with a mass at the New Government Center followed by a program featuring the unveiling of the Gonzaga marker, located at the NGC lobby that is set up in honor of the Gonzaga family who donated the lot where the NGC now stands.
Banwahanon Award Committee also gave out this year's Banwahanon Awards to Atty. Francisco B. Cruz, Ma. Dolores Villarosa Ramos, Ph.D., Milagros L. Ong. All three awardees selflessly rendered services in their respective fields.
The program will also give way to the awarding of the Dungganon nga Bacolodnon Award, the Most Outstanding Taxpayers, Most Outstanding Government Employees, and other special citations to individuals and groups who worked actively for the betterment of the city. (CMO/PIA/EAD) [top]
