DTI Iloilo sets October 22 symposium on product standards

by T. Villavert

Iloilo City (21 October) -- Increasing the public's level of awareness is the objective of the symposium on product standards scheduled October 22 at the Audio-visual Room of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Iloilo City.

According to DTI-Iloilo Director Wilhelm Malones, the activity is an advocacy to help educate our consumers on the aforesaid concerns in order that in the future we will lessen or reduce the importation of substandard products in our region.

"We are expecting attendance from the sectors coming from the products' distributors, retailers, and the consumers," Malones said.

The DTI-Iloilo director further said that the activity is one of the highlights of the Consumer Month observed in the month of October, and that this years's observance is spearheaded by the Department of Health.

The activity, according to Malones is in partnership with the Philippine Product Quality Safety Foundation, Inc., the Iloilo City government, and the Integrated Salesman Association, Panay Chapter.

This year's Consumer Welfare month theme is "Generic Drugs: Tangkilikin, Pag-ibayuhin," Malones concluded. (PIA6) [top]
