ABK 2 initiative to honor DepEd partners
Iloilo (23 October) -- The ABK 2 Initiative, a project of the World Vision Development Foundation will honor the 47 high school and elementary teachers who have completed its "Teachers for ABK Training Series", on October 24, Iloilo Grand Hotel.
The project initially implemented in the municipalities of Ajuy and Estancia, aims to contribute to the sustainable reduction of exploitative child labor by means of education.
ABK 2 Initiative Provincial Education officer Mitchel Renton said the teachers participated in a two-month training experience, in partnership with the division and district offices of the Department of Education in Region VI.
Resource persons included Mrs. Beatriz Vencer, Principal II, Mrs. Bernadette Barrios, Principal II and Mrs. Frecie de Angel, Head Teacher II from DepEd.
ABK 2 is the second phase of the ABK Initiative, funded by the United sates Department of Labor, since 2003, which is a special project for combating child labor in the Philippines.
ABK stands for Pag-Aaral ng Bata para sa Kinabukasan or Education for the Children's Future, while this second phase goes by the slogan TEACH Now! Or Take every Action for children Now, to underscore the urgent action needed to help children engaged in the worst forms of child labor. (PIA6/ESS) [top]
