Pangasinan gov orders pre-evacuation

Dagupan City (23 October) -- Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino, Jr. has ordered all disaster coordinating councils to implement preemptive evacuation of residents in communities recognized as highly vulnerable to flooding and storm surges.

Some 100 evacuation centers have been activated in the province along with search and rescue teams.

Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council executive officer Pat Orduņa asked everybody to remain on alert.

Dump trucks and rubber boats together with rescue and medical personnel are on stand by. Relief goods and other supplies were also pre-positioned to augment food stocks and medicine in various towns. (PIO/PIA Pangasinan) [top]
