DOLE allots P100,000 to 20 self-employed workers

Lagawe, Ifugao (24 October) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) allotted P100,000 to 20 self employed workers here to help grow their livelihood into sustainable business.
Public Employment Service Officer Connie Lacadin said the DOLE turned over P5,000 worth of materials needed by each of the 20 beneficiaries who are mostly engaged in snack vending.
The 20 self employed passed the rigid criteria set by the DOLE in the selection of beneficiaries.
Dubbed as WORKTREP Program or the Work Entrepreneur Program, it covers special group of workers such as the Persons with Disabilities, parents of child laborers, disadvantaged women, urban poor, farmers, fisherfolks and displaced workers.
Lacadin disclosed that beneficiaries must be special self-employed workers based on life circumstances; small self-employed workers and low economic status.
Others sectors who may qualify in said program are the rank and file wage workers who have an income augmentation in the formal economy to enable them establish their own enterprise and the informal economy to enable them become self employed and make their livelihood undertaking grow into viable and sustainable business.
