Lamut, Ifugao (24 October) -- In order to have access to the students studying in the Ifugao State University (IFSU), the Provincial Population Office here in coordination with the youth and the United Population Fund (UNFPA) established a youth center here.
Known as Datngon Youth Center, the facility is recognized by the students as a friendly youth center in the university. "The establishment of the said center seeks to deliver Adolescence Reproductive Health information to the youth," said Wilson Domingo a staff of the PPO.
Domingo said that the recreational facilities available in the center like board games, musical instruments and audio visual materials encouraged more students to visit the center.
He added that trainings and information and education to the peer educator volunteers conducted are helpful in the functionalization of the center and also in the facilitation of ASRH program/services to the students.
"Life planning education for the peer educator volunteers will help them become more assertive in performing their task and contribute in the realization of the center's vision.
Domingo informed that trainings conducted to the youth should develop and strengthen their self confidence and gain better understanding of themselves; gain awareness of the skills they possess and enhanced them. "We also hope that they (youth) will gain knowledge on adolescent reproductive health," he said. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
