Military security statistics highlight closing rites of 20th NSM in Region 8
Tacloban City (October 26) -- The presentations by the Philippine Army and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency will highlight the closing ceremonies on October 29 at the SMED Center, of the month-long celebration of the 20th National Statistics Month in Eastern Visayas.
NEDA 8 Director Buenaventura Go-Soco informed that the Closing Ceremonies is the culmination of the Region's month-long activities which revolved around the theme: "Enhancing Security Sector Statistics for Good Governance."
The Closing Ceremonies will be started through a Thanksgiving Mass, which will be followed by the welcome remarks by Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho L. Petilla.
The Advocacy and Data Presentation by the 8th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army and by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency will be the highlight of the activity as valuable statistical data will be presented which could be a good reference for future planning and other activities.
Major General Arthur Tabaquero the commander of the 8th ID will then deliver his message which will elaborate the data presented, after which, Ms. Evangeline Paran, the NSCB Regional Head and the RSCC Secretary will present the various important activities of the 20th National Statistics Month Celebration in Eastern Visayas.
Intermission numbers will come from the Parole and Probation Administration, the 8ID Band and the Tacloban City Police.
The National Statistics Month is celebrated annually for the purpose of promoting, enhancing and instilling nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics and at the same time ensuring the support of the public in improving and enhancing the quality and standards of statistics in the country.
It has also become a showcase of unity and cooperation among the members of the PSS and a forum for tackling issues and developments affecting the System. (PIA 8) [top]
