Surallah day care workers train in phonetics

by USWAG Surallah

Koronadal City (26 October) -- In recognition of the vital role of Day Care Workers in establishing the foundation of the children of Surallah, Mayor Romulo O. Solivio Sr. ordered the conduct of a 6-day live-in training on Phonetics last May 10-16, 2009 at Estares Lake Resort, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.

"Our children deserve the best and we in the LGU searched far and wide, scouring even as far as Luzon and Visayas for the most competent Resource Speaker/Trainer only to find them here in Mindanao… budget is of no consequence and we will continue on finding means as long as it is for our children," Mayor Solivio enthused.

The training assisted by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Mrs. Socorro A. Subillaga and under the Pamilya Program was participated by 46 DCWs and 12 staff participants.

They underwent six grueling days of lecture, practicum and group activities, under the able tutelage of Mrs. Flordeliza M. Buhay, her husband Mr. Nestor Buhay and their training staff. Mr. and Mrs. Buhay are the administrators of School for Life Montessori, Kidapawan City.

"I am deeply touched by the dedication that your DCWs here in Surallah have shown…imagine some walk more than 30 minutes as day and some even ride horses for hours just to reach your children in the remote ares," Mrs. Buhay shared teary-eyed during the culmination program. She even shared that of all groups she had trained all around the Philippines, it is only here in the municipality that she had encountered the dynamism of the local chief executive in pursuit of a better children's welfare and future.

This training was considered a success that it paves the way for the forging of a partnership between the LGU and the School for Life of Montessori in Surallah's quest towards providing children with quality pre-school education towards Mayor Solivio's goal of establishing what the Administrator, Mr. Jorge J. Bautista excitedly referred to as Rural Montessoris in the municipality. (PIA 12 12 aca) [top]
