DPWH readies roads for All Saints/Souls Days

Iloilo City (28 October) -- The Department of Public Works and Highways in Western Visayas (DPWH 6)) is efficiently exerting efforts to maintain the national roads as they expect a heavy traffic volume especially during the All Saints' Day and all Souls' Day.
Director Rolando M. Asis said that he has instructed all District Engineers and Maintenance engineers that "all road sections leading to private and public cemeteries should be well-maintained and free from any obstructions.
Asis said that part of his instruction is to activate the "Lakbay-Alalay" at strategic locations in their respective area of jurisdiction to assist motorists.
He also instructed concerned DPWH officers to submit a situationer report every six hours starting October 31 until November 2, 2009.
The DPWH 6 Director said that he will also personally inspect road conditions emphasizing that the government's infrastructure projects are always complementary to the growth and development of the country's agriculture, industry, trade, commerce and tourism. (PIA6) [top]
