Army engineers hand over 5 more Kalayaan Barangay projects in Eastern Samar

Tacloban City (October 29) -- The Army engineers under the leadership of Lt. Col. Krestofel A. Kiamco continue to win the hearts of the people of Eastern Samar by their unwavering swift efforts to implement and complete infrastructure projects which are vital to the welfare of the people and development of the hinterlands, under the Kalayaan Barangay Program.

The 546 Engineer Construction Battalion based in Barangay Balud, Borongan, Eastern Samar has completed another four infrastructure projects which are scheduled to be turned over to its end users on October 30 and 31, First Lieutenant Annabelle Paraan, information officer of the Battalion, disclosed.

Implementing Kalayaan Projects in the hinterlands where no other brave to trail, the Army Engineer Construction Battalion will turn over another tangible manifestation of their exceptional craft, the water system project, to the happy residents of Barangay Waso, Llorente, Eastern Samar, on October 30, at about 10:00 o’clock in the morning, with Honorable Tito B. Codoy Jr., vice mayor of Llorente, as the keynote speaker.

The Army Engineers are also scheduled to hand over four infrastructure projects in Barangay Balacdas, Borongan, the capital of Eastern Samar, on October 31. These include the construction of a day care center, repair of school building, installation of five deep wells and installation of barangay street lights.

Mayor Fidel V. Anacta Jr. and Vice Mayor Fe R. Abunda are scheduled to accept the facilities that will benefit the barangay people.

The 546 Engineer Construction Battalion of the 53rd Engineer Brigade of the Philippine Army, has already completed 16 of the 59 various projects worth P74 Million, it has committed to implement.

These projects include the construction of all weather access roads or farm to market roads, school buildings, water system facilities, health centers, installation of sanitary toilets and barangay electric power facilities in 18 different barangays of seven Eastern Samar municipalities namely, Llorente, Balangkayan, Maydolong, Borongan, Catbalogan, Jiabong and Calbiga.

About 20 projects are about to be finished and the remaining 23 projects will soon be started.

Lt. Col. Kiamco gave the assurance that the Army Engineers are doing their best effort to deliver vital infrastructure projects the soonest possible time, in order to make the basic facilities available to the people in remote barangays. (PIA 8/with 546ECB) [top]
