DOLE-RTWPB declares 2009 Productivity Olympics awardees
Davao City (30 October) -- The Department of Labor and Employment thru its attached agency, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-XI (RTWPB-XI) has announced the two (2) finalists for Region XI in the Productivity Olympics 2009.
The finalists are : Lao Integrated Farms (producer of Donna Belle Delicacies), a small agribusiness enterprise based in Eman, Bansalan, Davao del Sur and the AMS Employees Fresh Fruits Producers Cooperative, a medium agribusiness enterprise based in Sampao, Kapalong, Davao del Norte had been declared as winners on October 29, 2009 during the awarding ceremonies at the Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.
The productivity achievements of Lao Integrated Farms include: Production of vermicast and organic fertilizers, Epektibo, Mura at Natural (EMAN) repellent, and bio-gas out of animal waste; Production of coco sugar and coco syrup (honey) out of coconut toddy (tuba); and the construction of production building that is compliant with processing standards to meet the increasing demand for the products.
The productivity achievements of AMS Employees Fresh Fruits Producers Cooperative (AMSEFFPCO) include: Expansion of exportable Cavendish bananas to help farmers within their environs develop their untilled lands thereby increasing farmers' income; Converting Class C bananas into banana flour (food and feed grade); and conversion/recycling of banana peels and stalks into vermicast and bio-organic fertilizers.
The awards and incentives given to the winners are: Productivity Olympics 2009 trophy and certificate; Cash award; Use of productivity Olympics 2009 Award Logo for publicity purposes for three (3) years, 2009-2011; and priority endorsement to other training programs and services of the NWPC/RTWPBs and other DOLE agencies.
