K-ITo recepient thanks DOLE
Koronadal City (30 October) -- Loreta Rotaquio, a 57-year old Purok Secretary, one of the recepients of the newly-launched Kabataan Information Technology opportunities (K-ITo) in Sultan Kudarat, thanked DOLE for giving her the opportunity to use a computer, which she never had the chance to do since she graduated from high school at the age of 15.
"Nalipay gid ko kay natagaan ako sang oportunidad nga makakaput sang computer," Rotaquio said. "Gusto ko gid matun-an ina kag madugangan ang akong knowledge maskin may edad na ko," she adds.
Rotaquio was chosen to demonstrate the basic parts of the computer in the demonstration of the launching of K-ITo during which she pointed to the audience the basic parts of the computer and showed them how to use the word processing application. She admits that she has more to learn, although she now considers herself as partly IT-literate.
Rotaquio is the oldest of the 58 beneficiaries of DOLE and its partners in their aim to educate especially the disadvantaged on information technology.
K-ITo aims to provide free and supervised internet access to on-line government programs and services and improve IT literacy among the disadvantaged sectors. (DOLE12/Hannah/ PIA 12) [top]
