Maasin City honors Kinderhilfe Philippinen founder, adopts city's son

Maasin City, Southern Leyte (30 October) -- At the culmination ceremony of the Children's Month celebrated this October, the City of Maasin led by the City Social Services Office, honored Kinderhilfe Philippinen founder Dr. Juergen Schneidt for his unselfish commitment extended to the local government.
In a short talk with City Social Welfare Aide Fe Nida Sy, Schnedit was awarded for his exemplary contribution and support in advancing the goals and objectives set by the city government in the delivery of its Early Child Care and Development (ECCD) programs and projects.
Furthermore, Schneidt, the driving force and benevolent founder of Kinderhilfe Philippinen based in the municipality of Padre Burgos was adopted as the son of Maasin City. He was recognized during the Children's Month celebration culmination activity, Thursday, October 29 at the city gymnasium here.
Kinderhilfe Philippinen, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) from Germany has been serving the disadvantaged and less fortunate children not only here but all throughout the province over the past twenty years, and its founder admitted he was “most satisfied after all the hard work” in a time-span of two decades.
Sy reported that the organization, through Schneidt already built 20 Day Care Centers in Maasin City not to mention the rehabilitation of health centers, construction of toilets in different schools, the gradual facelift of the provincial hospital and the provision of modern facilities and equipments, and serving the needs of the underprivileged, sometimes abandoned, children, among others.
The children's month activity which carries the theme, “Bright Child, Protection ng Bata Panangutan ng Bayan” also recognized four day care workers for their invaluable support in the implementation of the ECCD through the exemplary compliance to the Standards of Accreditation in accordance with Republic Act 6972, having achieved a 5-star rating, Sy disclosed.
The day activity was also graced by City Mayor Maloney Samaco, Vice Mayor Effie A. Sabandal, the city councilors and the barangays captains throughout Maasin City. (PIA-soleyte) [top]
