Lagawe recognized for civic activities

Lagawe, Ifugao (31 October) -- The Local Government Unit here was awarded by the provincial government for its innovations in civic activities installed thru the years.

Concepcion Lacadin, Supervising Administrative Officer here said that the provincial government recently awarded the LGU for initiating best practices at the local government level. "The LGU believes that creativity and innovativeness in the workplace is boundless, it has no limit," Lacadin said.

The Friday Innovative Activities program for employees is being practiced since 1996. This is a series of endeavors that breaks the monotony of the usual routine jobs of the LGU employees while it promotes spiritual, physical and social development of individual employees. This seeks to promote the physical fitness of participants thru work exercises and achieve outputs that would provide outcomes while doing physical work exercises.

"Enhancing these activities shall give more life to living it and making these human resource activities a rejuvenating catalyst to foster true camaraderie among all employees and keep alive the enthusiasm on the job," Lacadin said.

She also stressed that while doing the Friday activities, civic action and birthday treats to birthday celebrants of the month provide a venue for relaxation, teambuilding/good camaraderie between and among employees.

Officials and employees are urged to clean roadsides every last Friday afternoon of the month. It was later enhanced thru the greening program of government or the reforestation projects of the LGU. About 60,000 coffee seedlings were planted in support to the One Town One Product of the LGU.

"The employees played a very important role in developing the municipal nursery especially in the production of seedlings," Lacadin said. An average of 75 officials and employees from top echelon to lowest employee including the Sanguniang bayan officials do various works at the nursery such as weeding, construction of equipment, storehouse, and staff house.
