OWWA inks MOA with Philamlife
Davao City (19 January) -- In its bid to provide better services to overseas Filipino workers (OFW), the government has link up with the private sector to strengthen its advocacy campaign.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) head Zenobia Caro of the Davao region said that her office has forged a memorandum of agreement with Philamlife.
She said their central office has already signed the MOA with the insurance company and it is just a matter of working it out with their counterparts in the regions.
The program will be carried out first in Manila, Cebu and Davao, she said.
It will be during the pre departure seminar (PDOS) where insights on how to handle finances will be elaborated through the assistance of Philamlife.
She said that based on a study, many OFWs do not know where to invest their money and the government want them to learn where to invest and how to handle their income earnings.
Part of the OWWA’s programs and services are the social security benefits and the worker’s welfare promotion.
Among others, the promotion of workers’ welfare include the reintegration program focused specifically on entrepreneurship and enterprise development training and extension of loan facility and psycho-social preparation program. (PIA/pdb) [top]
