PMAG Davao marks 1st year
Davao City (21 January) -- The Parents Mobilization Action Group (PMAG) Phils-Davao Chapter will celebrate its first anniversary with a grand raffle on Saturday, January 22 from 1:00p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the NCCC Mall Davao Activity Center in Matina.
The Davao City Chapter of the Parents Mobilization Action Group Phils. (PMAG) is an organization composed of around 500 parents of children with intellectual disabilities. Its objective is to strengthen parents to advocate for their special children in gaining equality of opportunities and inclusion in society.
PMAG is a nationwide program based in Davao City with chapters organized in Tagum City, Digos City, General Santos City and Cagayan de Oro City. it is supported by inclusion International and its activities are funded by the Christian Blind Mission (CBM) International and Zuellig Foundation, Inc.
It aims to unite all parents of children with intellectual disabilities for a stronger voice in gaining support from the government and the community.
PMAG conducts seminars, skills training and advocacy activities in Davao City and in key cities in Mindanao, to educate parents on topics such as various types of intellectual disabilities like autism, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and others.
Through PMAG, parent-members learn how to take care of their children and earn extra income. Its quarterly newsletter, Parent Power, prints stories about parents and their experiences with their children.
