NPA claim of being Katipuneros outrageous, says CRG

PANACAN, Davao City (3 December) -- Major Jose Maria Cuerpo II of the 5th Civil Relations Group Commander said that the claim of the New People's Army as the new Katipuneros is very ridiculous because Katipunan and the NPA are two different points of different poles, as far as their goals are concern.

"How could they claim that they are the new Katipunan when in fact, they are the one's who are trying to destroy our democracy and freedom fought by our Katipunero forefathers long time ago," Cuerpo said.

Cuerpo explained that the terrorist NPA is a group organized by the Communist Party of the Philippines in 1968 aimed to overthrow the democratic form of the government through armed struggle and install communist governance.

People, he said are forced to provide logistical support to the CPP/NPA for fear of execution on a mere suspicion of being pro-government and anti-revolution.

Cuerpo said that for more than three decades now, the CPP propagated communist ideology under the guise of "nationalism" and formed legal fronts that will organize mass rallies, strikes and boycotts to destroy business establishments and cripple the nation's economy.

"That is why we see groups such as Karapatan, KMU, Bayan Muna, Anakpawis, Gabriela and such other nuisance groups in the streets protesting everything the government does and mum on brutal atrocities of the terrorist such as the killing of Datu Butig not so long ago. These groups are the bane of society's progress and development ought to be disbanded by the people of this region " he said.

Cuerpo also said that the NPA grew in number because of its deceptive method of recruitment and exploitation of young children and students including the protection and resource support from political leaders sympathetic to their cause for personal or professional reasons, likewise thru the proceeds from extortions, hold ups and such other shenanigans, the cancer of society kept on "surviving even with massive dose of medicine".

He further stressed that their ultimate motivation is to destroy democracy and curtail freedom and install communist governance that has long been gagged out by countries such as Germany, Russia and China. They are now developed countries.

There is no single similarity between Katipunan and the NPA because Katipunan was an organization fighting for the freedom of the Filipino people, that we the descendants are also enjoying today, while the NPA is nothing but a group of deceived and exploited members forced to fight the democratic government using the land reform issues as their major tool for deception. For 36 years, they promised their lost disciples for a more develop agrarian agenda, but look at us now, not even a single sitio in the region that they claim is their stronghold have developed in the agrarian aspect or any other aspect. Now that is not katipuneros but they are manlolokoneros," Cuerpo added. (5th CRG News) [top]
