DOST provides computers to schools

Davao City (23 December) -- Computers are being provided by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to public elementary schools in Davao City as a direct intervention to improve teaching-learning process not commonly found in traditional elementary and secondary schools.
The provision of computers is in response to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's order to use Information Technology and IT latest technologies for Teaching and learning science. Last year, DOST has distributed various computer units to different elementary and secondary schools.
The recipient-beneficiaries of this project include: Dizon Elementary School in Bacaca; Zonta Elementary School at Isla Verde; Diego Silang elementary school in Punta Dumalag and Matina Aplaya; Generoso Elementary Schools in Bago Gallera and Langub Elementary school in Maa - all in Davao City.
The funds were channeled from the congressional allocation of First District Congressman Prospero C. Nograles.
Specifically, the project will provide teachers and students opportunities to explore and do science using computers and modern science laboratory facilities, develop a more specific and technology oriented youth who will form part of the country's manpower in the 21st century. (PIA) [top]
