Commentary: Sowing the seeds of a strong economy

Baguio City (30 December) -- As the new year promises a stable economy taking off from the runway of optimism, unity and change, the doomsday scenario of the Senate President, does not wash with reality.

This is an insult to the Filipino people who have continued to toil here and abroad to redeem our nation from poverty and politicking. The stalemate is over and the administration is on the way to a decisive win.

The peddlers of doom will be left in the wayside as the juggernaut of Filipino excellence and enterprise moves forward. Administration detractors have been too obsessed with unseating President Arroyo that they have missed the valiant efforts of the quiet majority who are sowing the seeds of a strong economy that will reap more jobs.

The Philippines is as crisis-proof as its leadership. Our peso is rising from peak to peak, the stock market is vibrant while the government is right on track to balance the fiscal footing.

The recognition of the stability of the Arroyo administration by foreign media, despite the many challenges faces, is proof that the government can focus its efforts on solutions to problems and maintain the best interests of the people.

God and the Filipino people continue to see the President through the adversities of our time. Crisis is the father of strong leadership. The president has a clear plan for the Philippines and it shall be fulfilled for the good of the greater number.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet must take the communication strategy to what is in store in 2006 in terms of sustaining the gains, spelling out the reform agenda, calling for national healing, reconciliation and unity-all riding on the crest of the wave of optimism that is grudgingly and slowly being recognized even by the opposition.

A cabinet reorganization is a means to reinforce strategic objectives and to communicate new found determination to deliver the 10 point agenda, bolster the optimism of the people, and generate public support buoyed by the show of steadfastness and determination to push the country forward past abating threats.
