CSC 8 upgrades managerial skills of first line supervisors

Tacloban City (September 1) -- Pursuant to its mandate of recruitment, building, maintenance and retention of a competent, professional and highly motivated government workforce truly responsive to the needs of the government's client, the Civil Service Commission in Region 8 has scheduled the Supervisory Development Course Tracks 2 and 3 on October 23-27, 2006 at the Ritz Tower de Leyte in Tacloban City.

Assistant Regional Director Marilyn Taldo revealed that the program is a follow-through of SDC Track I which was conducted on February 13 - 16, 2006 and on August 7 to 10, 2006 at the Leyte Park Hotel in Tacloban City.

She said that the program aims to upgrade the managerial and supervisory knowledge and skills of first-line supervisors in responding to the requirements of their job. The modules in the SDC Tracks 2 and 3 include Leadership, How to Spark Exceptional Performance, Making Powerful, Winning Presentations and Making Meetings More Productive.

One of the specific functions of the Civil Service Commission, Director Taldo said, is leading and initiating the professionalization of the civil service. It is in line with this function that the Civil Service Commission in the Region has scheduled a year-round training programs for those who are in the government service.

Director Taldo is inviting the various government agencies and local government units to send their participants, particularly those who have already undergone the SDC Track 1, to said training and give them the opportunity to complete the course.

She added that a training fee of four thousand five hundred pesos (P4,500.00) which may be sourced from local or national funds, shall be collected per participant to defray expenses for venue, handouts, training materials and other incidental expenses.

She advised the participating agencies that check payments for the registration fee should be made payable to the Civil Service Commission, Regional Office No.8, Palo, Leyte.
