5th MICT Congress brings jobs to Mindanao

Cagayan de Oro City (12 September) -- New graduates and job seekers will have the chance to meet business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in the Job Fair and Career Fest, a special event during the 5th Mindanao Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Congress happening here on September 20-22, 2006.

Among the participating business firms are call centers and a medical transcription company from the cities of Manila, Cebu and Cagayan de Oro. These include Arriba Telecontact, Alorica Philippines, Total Transcriptions Systems, Inc., Sykes Asia, People Support, Link2Support, and e-Telecare.

"With the addition of the Job Fair and Career Fest into the 5th MICT Congress, we hope that we can help in the job generation of our work force in Mindanao, as our job seekers are offered the opportunity to venture into the fastest growing industry in the Philippines," said Engr. Elpie Paras, the Congress Director.

"With the rapid growth of our BPOs, we hope that this initiative to bring in the best companies into Mindanao for the Job Fair will not only mean jobs for our work force, but will also translate to new locators and new investments in Mindanao," he added.

The Job Fair will be held on September 20-21 to coincide with the Exhibition and Trade Fair which is open to the public for free at the Atrium of Limketkai Mall. Interested applicants are advised to bring their resumes with photo and be prepared for on-the-spot interview.

The Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber) hosts the 5th Mindanao ICT Congress. The 3-day event is co-presented by Globe Innove and PLDT Business Solutions.
