By Rose B. Palacio

Davao City (13 September) -- Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) XI Director Atty. Marcelinda Omila-Yap said the next draw of the BIR's Premyo sa Resibo Raffle, sponsored by PAGCOR and PhilWeb is set on October 1, 2006. Deadline for sending of text entries is 12 midnight of the day before the draw.

The immediate objective of the PSR raffle project is to motivate the consumers to ask for official receipts whenever they purchase goods or services. The program will help tax collection drive campaign of BIR in plugging billions of pesos in tax leaks due to non-issuance of ORs and misdeclaration of sales.

All you need is a cellphone with load and a receipt with a minimum amount of P100.00. There is no need to register your name and address. The original of the official receipt shall serve your primary identification as a winner.

Just identify the Tax Identification Number (TIN) of the establishment, Receipt Number, the amount in the receipt and then using your cellphone, type in the text message in the format:

PSRTINReceipt NumberReceipt Amount

Ex: PSR 005215077076*00084293*130 then SEND to 9777 for Smart, Globe, Talk & Text and Sun Cellular subscriber.

Accepted receipts are official receipts, cash/sales invoices/ cash register machine/point of sales (POS) receipts.

Every P100 value of the receipt entitles you to one text-entry. As an added bonus, you can get an extra text-entry for remaining fractions of P50 and above. One text-entry is issued one raffle entry number. You can send the same text message with the same receipt details several times depending on the amount of the receipt.

Susan Tusoy, RDO assessment chief, together with Grace Pagaran, Beverly Montebon, and other BIR representatives were guests during a BIR regular radio forum dubbed as BIR ug Ikaw over DXRP Radyo ng Bayan anchored by Dang Jumala and Rose Palacio of the Philippine Information Agency.

In their discussion, Ms. Tusoy said it is important that you keep the original copy of the receipt. It is the primary requirement in claiming the prize of one million per winner.

Five (5) one (1) million pesos is at stake on this draw. Winning raffle entry number shall be published in newspapers and draw winners shall be notified via phone call from a special 4-digit number (7777) on his or her cellphone.

To claim their prizes, the winners must present the original copy of the OR used for the text-entry and two acceptable photo-bearing IDs.

If your sim number is enrolled to an unlimited text messaging, you can still join the raffle, however, it will be deducted from hour regular cell phone load.

For those receipts that are suspicious like those without a printed TIN number, you may report it to the BIR nearest you. (PIA-XI) [top]
