Dengue kills 7 in Cagayan Valley
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (9 October) -- Health authorities here said 7 persons have died in the region due to the dreaded dengue fever.
Dr. Antonio Parong, Department of Health (DOH) representative in the province said there are two confirmed cases of deaths from dengue in the province.
In Cagayan province, 21 cases of dengue have been recorded for the month of August alone.
Records from the Center for Health Development in the region showed that the deaths happened since April this year with the month of August having the most number of deaths.
The affected barangays in Tuguegarao City were Ugac Norte, Ugac Sur, San Gabriel, Tagga, Tanza, Annafunan, Carig Sur, Caritan Norte, Linao East, Linao West, Pallau Sur, Atulayan Sur and Atulayan Norte.
Floro Urata, regional health educator said they have intensified their anti-dengue drive because of the increasing number of dengue cases in the region.
Affected local government units have also stepped up their campaign in their communities to prevent the widespread of the dreaded dengue disease. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
