Housing fair in Davao City books 21 home buyers

Davao City (11 October) -- The Housing Urban Development Coordinating Center (HUDCC) reported that the two-day Housing Fair in Davao City booked 21 home buyers from various sectors.

HUDCC Assistant Secretary lawyer Pamela Yabut said that of the 21 home buyers, 16 were booked with Pag-IBIG Fund and five with the Social Security System.

She said of the 16, 13 were from the government sector six of whom came from the Davao City government, six from the Bureau of Customs (BOC XI) and one from the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB XI), two from the private sector and one Overseas Filipino Workers.

Meanwhile Concepcion Talo, acquired assets head of Pag-IBIG Fund Davao said that immediately after the conduct of the housing fair at the Waterfront Insular Hotel last week they were able to book as of October 10 an additional eight reservations, with five from the government sector, one a private employee and two self-employed.

Yabut said a total of 157 participants from the regional line agencies and local government units in Mindanao attended the 2006 Housing Fair held at the Waterfront Insular Hotel on October 5 and 6 and 34 of them joined the HUDCC-SHDA convention.

She said among the key shelter agencies and government financial institutions that showcased their foreclosed assets for disposition were the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation, Pag-IBIG Fund, Home Guarantee Corporation, Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, SSS, Government Service Insurance System and Land Bank of the Philippines.

The "Magaang Pabahay, Disenteng Buhay" Program was launched by Pag-IBIG Fund to afford employees in the public sector as well as other members of the Fund the requirements of decent human settlement.

The program also provides employees both from the government and private sectors with ample opportunities to improve their quality of life.

Under the program, Pag-IBIG Fund offers its eligible acquired real estate for sale under reasonable terms and condition consistent with those of the other shelter agencies and government financial institutions.

Meanwhile, the housing committee of the Sanguniang Panlungsod of Davao City will spearhead a Housing Summit in Davao City on October 25 to 27, 2006 and will be joined by the different stakeholders operating in the city. (PIA XI/Prix D Banzon) [top]
